Flooding of the Kyiv metro: the Cabinet urgently collects the commission

Shmygal said that due to the "actions or inaction of the city authorities" there is a threat of flooding and destruction of the tunnels of the "blue" branch of the capital metro. Klitschko is expected with a detailed report.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, instructed to hold a meeting of the State Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations due to the flooding of the Kyiv subway tunnel on Saturday, December 9. The head of the Cabinet reported this in Telegram.

Shmyhal noted that during a full-scale war, the Kyiv metro has a dual strategic importance – as a transport artery and as a bomb shelter where thousands of people find refuge.

"Due to the action or inaction of the city authorities, there is a threat of flooding and destruction of the tunnels of the "blue" branch of the capital metro. This will affect the safety of the people of Kyiv," the Prime Minister notes.

He said that he instructed to hold a meeting of the State Commission on Technogenic-Ecological Safety and Emergency Situations on December 9 with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Kubrakov, Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klymenko, Head of the Ministry of Strategic Industry Oleksandr Kamyshin, Acting Chairman of the State Security Service of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchuk, Chief of Kyiv Viktor Braginsky metro station.

Also, according to Shmygal, they expect the presence of the chairman of the KSGA Vitaliy Klitschko with a detailed report on this issue.
